About us

This blog is intended for anyone with an interest in evidence and practice. Staff from IRISS use the space to reflect, explore and share our thinking as we support evidence use and evidence usability across the social services in Scotland.

Guest blog posts are also welcome, we are particularly interested in hearing from practitioners about your thoughts about evidence. If you have something you would like to share about evidence and practice – please contact us.

The blog is reactively moderated, which means that we ask users of the blog to let us know if they spot anything happening on the site which they are not happy with.

A note about evidence

For us evidence includes a range of different ways of knowing about things – personal experience, research evidence, professional wisdom. ย Therefore, to us, being informed by evidence means finding and reflecting on a range of types of evidence, and where relevant, having new ideas or changing previous attitudes or behaviours based on these reflections.
