Our first serious attempt at social reporting (see\u00a0earlier post<\/a>)\u00a0at Small Changes, Big Differences<\/a> on 26 February was a great success with a large\u00a0number of people joining in the spirit of Tweeting and taking photographs. \u00a0We used Storify (see previous post<\/a>) to create this\u00a0record of the event<\/a>, and many participants appreciated\u00a0seeing such a lively and engaging record, created before, during and after the event.<\/p>\n

\"participants<\/a>An important reason for its\u00a0success\u00a0was because\u00a0we planned\u00a0it\u00a0as an integral part of the event.\u00a0\u00a0And, on the day, the opening speaker reiterated what we were trying to do, encouraging everyone to get into\u00a0the spirit of sharing.<\/p>\n

This helped create a buzz and gave participants the\u00a0confidence to talk about the event on Twitter. During the day\u00a0there were close to 1000 tweets, which we thought was pretty good.<\/p>\n

Of course, what we’d really like to see is people creating\u00a0their own personal record of the parts of the day that mattered to them, using Storify<\/a>, Medium<\/a> or whatever they feel comfortable with. That really is the essence of social reporting: individuals or groups capturing what was important to them using the tools they choose.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
