Connected Practice is a research unit formed to study the implications of the network society for social services. We are interested in how social service practitioners and organisations might harness networked technologies to support key business processes (such as networked learning, knowledge management and social networking), and to deliver social services (e.g. social telephony, online counselling, and telecare) .
We are also interested in how the technology mediated changes being wrought in family and social life create new challenges and opportunities for social services, new forms of social solidarity and of social disorder.
Connected Practice is based within the Glasgow School of Social Work at the University of Strathclyde and is a partnership between the university and the Institute for Research and Innovation in Social Services.
