Between October 2013 and March 2014 people in Pitlochry will be invited to take part in a programme of events and activities which aim to assist the community to develop better supports for people who use social services.

To kick off the programme, Service Design Masters students from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design will visit Pitlochry in October and November to speak to the community. The outcome of their findings will be exhibited in one of Pitlochry’s community buildings.

Afterwards, GrowBiz, Perth & Kinross Council, PKAVS and Institute for Research and Innovation in Social Services (IRISS) will host four workshop sessions in the Atholl Centre. These sessions are open to anyone who lives in Pitlochy, uses services here, or who wants to bring social service business to the area.

Together we will explore what support Pitlochry needs. We will also help people who are interested in providing support to develop their business ideas into tangible plans.

In spring 2014 IRISS will make available a £10,000 seed fund to help people who use services, carers and the wider community of Pitlochry with ideas for a new business start up, or existing small businesses develop new innovative ideas. The fund will be split between three opportunity strands:

Products
Services
Models / processes of service
