“Here at Participle we create future public services designing and delivering them in the present. Over the last 10 years we’ve delivered public services across a broad number of areas – older people, family, youth and employability. There is one role common in all of them: It’s a role all about relationships, that needs someone great at listening to and supporting others to make lasting changes in their own lives. We want our services not just to develop people, but also to boost their ability to connect to others in the wider community.
We’ve had a real challenge trying to put a title to this type of role – there are a myriad of ways to name it but not one single one that really captures it. We wanted to make sure we got across all the nuance and variety the work involves. Usually a ‘holistic’ approach stops with the individual – we want to go further. It’s important to us that our people are given the time and space to connect one-to-one with those they’re supporting, but we need their skill at identifying and building up community support networks as well.
To complicate things further we’re stuck between job titles people will understand and want to apply for now and those that set the direction for roles in public services of the future. This is another common struggle in our work- trying to develop something radically different inside of the status quo. We’re hoping the job description is good enough to get people past the title. After all, “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet”, right Romeo? But we also believe that roles like this are setting a blueprint for the future: more human and more flexible. We hope our candidates agree.”

Could you tell me where this post would be based and when you are looking for someone to start? I am currently based in Glasgow.
Hi Neil, your best bet is to contact Participle and ask them. I believe it could be based in Scotland but they wil be able to provide better details.
