{"id":1209,"date":"2015-03-05T11:36:19","date_gmt":"2015-03-05T11:36:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.iriss.org.uk\/socialmedia\/?p=1209"},"modified":"2015-03-05T11:51:04","modified_gmt":"2015-03-05T11:51:04","slug":"social-reporting-in-practice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.iriss.org.uk\/socialmedia\/2015\/03\/05\/social-reporting-in-practice\/","title":{"rendered":"Social reporting in practice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our first serious attempt at social reporting (see\u00a0<a title=\"Social reporting \u2013 sharing the learning\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.iriss.org.uk\/socialmedia\/2015\/02\/19\/social-reporting-sharing-the-learning\/\">earlier post<\/a>)\u00a0at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sssc.uk.com\/policy-news-and-events\/the-latest-from-sssc\/events\/sssc-event\/48-small-changes-big-difference-smarter-learning-for-sds-conference?layout=table\">Small Changes, Big Differences<\/a> on 26 February was a great success with a large\u00a0number of people joining in the spirit of Tweeting and taking photographs. \u00a0We used Storify (see <a title=\"Storify your event or conversation\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.iriss.org.uk\/socialmedia\/2015\/03\/02\/storify-your-event-or-conversation\/\">previous post<\/a>) to create <a href=\"https:\/\/storify.com\/iriss\/small-changes-big-differences\">this\u00a0record of the event<\/a>, and many participants appreciated\u00a0seeing such a lively and engaging record, created before, during and after the event.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.iriss.org.uk\/socialmedia\/files\/2015\/03\/Screen-Shot-2015-03-04-at-16.22.56.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1211\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.iriss.org.uk\/socialmedia\/files\/2015\/03\/Screen-Shot-2015-03-04-at-16.22.56-300x295.jpg\" alt=\"participants wave to camera\" width=\"300\" height=\"295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.iriss.org.uk\/socialmedia\/files\/2015\/03\/Screen-Shot-2015-03-04-at-16.22.56-300x295.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.iriss.org.uk\/socialmedia\/files\/2015\/03\/Screen-Shot-2015-03-04-at-16.22.56-305x300.png 305w, https:\/\/blogs.iriss.org.uk\/socialmedia\/files\/2015\/03\/Screen-Shot-2015-03-04-at-16.22.56.jpg 614w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>An important reason for its\u00a0success\u00a0was because\u00a0we planned\u00a0it\u00a0as an integral part of the event.\u00a0\u00a0And, on the day, the opening speaker reiterated what we were trying to do, encouraging everyone to get into\u00a0the spirit of sharing.<\/p>\n<p>This helped create a buzz and gave participants the\u00a0confidence to talk about the event on Twitter. During the day\u00a0there were close to 1000 tweets, which we thought was pretty good.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, what we&#8217;d really like to see is people creating\u00a0their own personal record of the parts of the day that mattered to them, using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.storify.com)\">Storify<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/medium.com\">Medium<\/a> or whatever they feel comfortable with.
