Can Yoga Create Calm in People with Dementia?
This small scale research study investigates whether yoga can bring about feelings of calm for people with dementia. Six people with dementia attended a ten week seated yoga course. Each yoga practice was 40 minutes long and started and finished with the same piece of music. The same sequence of movements and postures were practiced each week. A CD of the class was recorded and each participant was given a copy to enable them to practice yoga in their own homes.
