Last year, we worked on a partnership project with the Care Inspectorate with inspectors and care homes to understand more about what kinds of inspections led to improvement. We captured that learning, as well as the ideas and innovations from the group in an improvement guide.
This year, we are translating this learning into practice by working with a small group of inspectors and 7 care homes for adults to implement improvement projects. We will be identifying small improvement projects (from improving the dining experience for residents to improving staff confidence in relation to dementia care) to undertake using the tools. We are approaching this work using the PDSA model for improvement. Our hope is to collect a series of case studies that showcase how small improvements can have a big impact, as well as share the methodology and approaches used for improvement.
By working with other organisations and inspectors who are invested in positive change, we hope to build relationships and communities of support.
