The first research training event aims to:
- Provide practitioner-researchers with information about practitioner-research, the research process and the resources that are available through CRFR and IRISS
- Support practitioner-researchers with defining a focus of the research
- Provide resources for the initial planning stage of the research
- Create a space for networking amongst practitioners, mentors and the project team

- Access to the Edinburgh University’s library and knowledge of key resources
- Meeting with project mentor
- Revised research proposal, including 1-2 research questions to explore
- Networking with other practitioners and project team
